Oblique Pergola was established in 2010 by our C.E.O. inventor Sami Eid. His work on cultured marble for structural applications began as he was working on a project in Lebanon that involved woodworks. It was striking to him to see that outdoor woodworks, such as pergolas, did not support the weather elements nor adapt to the countries climate, not to mention the serious and costly maintenance problems. This motivated him to start making an imitation of wood using the marble powder. It was a total success! For nine years, this innovation has undergone a series of enhancements to the degree that it is so difficult to distinguish it from the real world.
As a result of this, Oblique Pergola was established to make cladding titles for most outdoor applications. The product was patented under patent #9645 and was recently named Faux Bois by Oblique (FBO).
In the past year, research collaboration started with AUB which resulted in the development of a new class of high strength FOB tiles. The product received several awards including the first prize by the Lebanese Industrial Research Achievement (LIRA) program which encourages industry-academia projects
